I have to agree it can look a right mess, we have just got a glass shelved tv stand and have installed suround sound and a dvd recorder, you can imagine the wires LOL. We spent about 2 hours last night sorting it all out. My DH has taped the wires together and we have positioned them behind the solid bit of the stand I can see a thickish Scart cable because it goes the "wrong" way so I might have to have a go at that this weekend.

You can get cable tidys from Ebay they are like curly plastic coils with what can only be decrisbed as large plastic zip. You insert cables about 3-4 at one end through a hole in the zip insert zip into coil and push down and cables are then in coils. You can buy them also in Wilko for about a fiver, I have several for tv/pvr/dvd and three pcs with various cables.

You can get them in various length but 3 metres should do two systems as you can cut them in half.

  • I use cable ties and cable tie bases like the ones you get from Maplin, they work for me.

Much cheaper in the pound shops! Got two boxes there recently. The bulldog clip thingy for opening the cable tidy was a bit rubbish (kept falling apart), but got them in eventually and it does look a *bit* tidier underneath the desk now.

I've got one from those good people at JML... I think it was a fiver. Does the trick.

I havent seen them in poundshop (we dont have that shop but we do have some poundtype shops where I live). I got mine for about £3 at poundstreches at Clifton Moor, York. I could do with some more, I didnt have any problems with the zip thing though although I do also use those plastic clips that you tighten up and cut so as to stop the curly cable undoing.

Any flexible tube should do the job, just get a sharp knife and put a split into to and feed the wires through it.I got some foam tubing from B&Q the width of toothpaste tube and it`s ideal.

The cheapest option would be zip/cable ties.
