Possible Issue with BT and 18866?

I've been using 18866 for several years without issue until recently. I’ve been frequently traveling to Russia on business so to keep the phone costs down I bought a Russia SIM card and my wife called me using the 18866 service (5p/min).
Our home phone is pre-programmed to auto dial 18866 and on each occasion my wife received the 18866 message stating 5p/min, however when I received my BT bill it turns out that BT collected all the calls to the Russian mobile phone at ~85p/min instead of them being transferred to 18866, the calls to the mobile alone were >$172.
I have of course contracted both 18866 and BT, 18866 stated that they never handled the calls and I should contact BT, BT are stating this is not their issue because it may be that 18866 systems may not be compatible BT systems. Interestingly other much cheaper calls around the same time did appear on the 18866 Bill. BT have passed my complaint to their investigation delartment but it;s takeing them a while to give any feedback.
Has any one else had this issue and if so does this raise a concern regarding ‘phone over-providers’ like 18866 where we cannot be guaranteed of the cost/min as the phone providers do not sem to accept responsibility.
