Nationwide - CashCard+ Visa Debit - 4659 Online/Offline?

Got a Visa Debit CashCard+ with Nationwide, now, I know some Cards are being badged as Visa Debit but still being a Electron underneath, but this card does not act in this way.

The card starts 4659... The AID on receipts is 31010...
I have used it at Holland & Barrat where Electrons are not accepted and some Visa cards have had problems (badged electron 1s)

Is this full auth or offline?

Comments

  • I have a Lloyds TSB basic account with 4659 and that is full authorisation but i have been able to use it on trains and pay at the pump petrol stations some with a credit limit of £100 even though there was less money in the account.

So i would say yours will be the same - full auth but still works the same as the offline one!

    Strange!

    Well mine does anyway!

I think there alot more involved in being able to determind the card type other than the BIN or AID number.

However im sorry to say im unable to confirm or deny what it is though.

    Hi,

Their flex account Debit Cards start 4543, and that's their £100 cheque guarantee cards, and that doesn't require authorization at point of purchase, so I assume that the card your refering too, may well require authorization at point of sale, like The Electron or Solo card did (does).

Barclays Bank have similar, where they have Visa Debit Cards for their Customers, 4658 and 4659 start their card numbers, those who have a 4658 card, don't have a card which would have the cheque guarantee function etc, those who have the 4659 card would have this facility, unless the card has just been replaced! These cards will either need authorizing at point of sale, dependent upon the first four digits of card, 4658 will need authorization and 4659 won't.

I hope this helps. Nationwide are odd anyway, so nothing surprizes me with them anymore, they seem to make up their own rules as they go on, hence they're proud to be different!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Yes my Lloyds 4659 is a full auth but behaves like an offline for trains etc. Spot on Lloyds!!
  • aid 31010 is offline

The IAC tags in the TLV data for the card specify the issuer's conditions (i.e. limits) for whether or not a transaction needs to be performed online, this has nothing to do with either the BIN or AID.
