Hi
Please can I have any advice. We own a property that we rent out (3 bed semi) and need to replace the wooden windows to PVC-U.
We have 10 windows (3 of which consist of bay window, 1 x In-line patio door and a front door.
The quote is from a local company which the letting agent has obtained for us (other quotes to follow) for White PVC-U Royale Encore Suite Profile (think thats just the design name from the local business).
10year guarantee

Lots more jargon in the quote which I am reading through.

The quote is for £5802.00 inc VAT

The hard part we are having is that we aren't in the area to look around as we live too far away and my husband is in the Army and currently away!!! Leaving me to do all the work :)

What seems a fair price and how much should I try and get them to drop it by, as I know you should always ask, and whats the best approach??? They are also going to charge 3% for putting it on credit card (interest free at moment).

Many thanks in advance

all ways get 3 quotations and be aware of the bogus discount tails the sales man will give you.

BTW if you do sign you only have 7 days cooling off period in which to cansel. READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE SIGNING. The suposed fitting date can be rearanged by the fitting company as and when they wish with in reason so any fitting dates given to you by the sales man may be bogus.

If you get it on finance the finance comany has to for fill the 10 year guarantee if the fitting company goes under with in the 10 years.

Ask the sales man questions about what he is telling you. For instance:-
    • Your house in on a main road, or there is a Bus Stop nearby, you are eligible for an extra X% off, this is a fake discount.
    • If you agree to a site board outside, ditto - fake discount.
    • There is a school up the road, ditto - fake discount.
    • We need a show house in your road, ditto - fake discount.
    • I will phone my manager to see if I can get the o.k. to offer you an even deal, ditto - fake discount.
    • I am the manager not a salesman, no commission to pay and your order will be at a trade price, ditto - fake discount.
All a load of codswallop, but there are some people who still fall for it!

    Good Luck
