My BT broadband connection

My BT broadband connection keeps trying to re-dial the modem, even though i'm already connected. Every 20 seconds i get the dial-up box appearing and ' unable to connect to server' then it switches me to 'off-line'. The only way to re-connect is to switch the computer off and start again!
I tried Bt (at 50p per minute) after 10 mins they said I needed to re- install the original software, but I could not find it.
Any other suggestions ?

Uninstall the software - but first get the software from Bt's website.
Then ensure that under Tools>Internet Options>Connection Settings - that your BT broadband is highlighted as the default connection, and that 'Always dial my default connection' is selected. You may try this solution 1st before getting rid of the software.0 -
Do you mean that when you are connected to BB, your computer tries to connect using the dial-up modem? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Assuming that you are using IE, Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Check the Never Dial a Connection box followed by Apply, OK.
