Daughters eye bags/ veins

Options
Hi, My daughter is alomst 14, and she looks like she has bags/ dark circles under her eyes, but its actually blue veins. Her skin is quite pale, and almost translucent,
she is getting quite down about it, as other girls at school say things like Owl eyes, and "why have you got BIG bags under your eyes?"
Can anyone recommend something to help with this? Ordinary concealer make up just looks cloggy under her eye, she needs something that covers really well but isnt thick.

Would be grateful for ideas.

Does she have any allergy issues?

You need something like Touche Eclat or Clinique's Airbrush Concealer. For younger skin I would go for the latter, though I can use TE now I used to get a terrible reaction to it.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Re; allergy issue....I don't think she has allergies as such, but she does have sensitive skin, she had excema when she was younger, and maybe once a year she will get sore behind her knees/elbows.
So i do tend to buy things for sensitive skin for her.

Would Touche eclat work? Would it cover enough? I was thinking along the lines of the stuff they used to use in make up for covering scars etc :o

That is going to be far too heavy for the under eye area. You need to find the balance between completely covering them, which is going to look unnatural, and minimising them so they are less obvious.

As she has eczema I would go for the Clinique version. Start with a minimal amount and build up until you find the right coverage.

Quite a lot about the suggested link between allergies and dark circles in children here.

Don't expect it'll be an answer to your question, but no harm in reading up anyway!
  • if she's pale, I'd look at Illamasqua concealer. I am pale, and this comes in any colour from white onwards. It's also yellow based which balances out the blue/green/grey ness of eye circles. I have a very blue vein, and dark skin under my eyes and it sorts it out

I also use the light liquid foundation from there, shade LF135
Another good one for me is Lush colour supplement in light yellow, I mix it with my moisturiser

Have you got her some gentle eye cream? Maybe something v.light that's designed to help with dark circles etc would mean she would have to use less concealer

  • before you buy why not make some appointments at beauty counters to see if their products will work.
