Heath Lambert?

Anyone have any thoughts on Heath Lambert Key connect insurance? I used comparethemarket or something like that and that was the cheapest at £123 PY with £100 excess

Or! Should I go for an insurance company ive heard of before, Endsleigh is 173£ with no excess??

This covers contents insurance (accidental damage), personal possessions, Legal protection, money and credit cards (i dont have a credit card anyway). Whereas, Heath Lambert only covers Contents a/d, personal possessions and legal protection (no money or credit card insurance).

I just spoke to jessops as well, its £50 just to insure my digital camera for 3 years :S

Heath Lambert are a very large and well respected broker. You need to ask who the actual Insurance underwriter is, as this will help you enquire whether the Insurer is one you can trust.

When you select Insurance, it is always best to look at the cover and terms/conditions to see whether it meets your needs. Then look at the company to see what their reputation is like.

The digital camera would be covered under Personal Possessions, so I don't know why you have looked at the Jessops policy, unless it covers more and/or there is no excess. Obviously if you claim under Home Insurance, you have the excess and then probable increases in premium, in future years.

Endsleigh don't have a great reputation, if you go by some of the complaints on the various forums.

if you are unsure about your requirements, you would be wise to phone Heath lambert or other broker, so they can help you select the right policy/Insurer for your needs.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

Just because I bought it from them and originally was just going to get seperate insurance for all my digital stuff, and not necessarily contents insurance, but its so expensive so might as well start my contents insurance now anyway.

I just found heath lambert on gocompare or something like that, it says Key Connect? :S

Key Connect is just a Heath Lambert brand name they use on price comparison websites. The insurer will be shown on the schedule, which you can view if you click through from GoCompare as if you were to buy - before you get to the payment screen you will be given the opportunity to view the schedule along with the key facts and the policy.

Key Connect works on the basis that there is a "common" policy wording to which various insurers subscribe - so Heath Lambert write the policy wording and various insurance companies provide each customer with a quote for that cover. You see the cheapest one.

In regards your digital camera etc, you are best to insure these as personal posessions items and keep some cash in savings to cover the excess/possible premium increase on your household insurance as gadget covers like that offered by Jessops tend to be expensive.
