Faulty car out of dealer warranty

I have had the same problem with my Meriva. The steering was completely replaced when the car was just under 3 years old, so still in warranty. However, it has now gone again. After contacting watchdog some months back and seeing their programme last week, I rang the number given above and was given a reference number and told to take it in to the dealers.

I took it in today and they have said that VX are prepared to replace the steering column, free of charge but this might not eradicate the problem:o. From reading some of the posts on VXON forum, it seems that they are doing the same for all who ring them with problems and some people who have already had it done have said their car now drives fine. My question is for how long? And are VX going to carry on replacing parts free of charge until it is fixed and also at future dates when problems arise, as they undoubtedly will.

Update: Got car back today, seems to be fine. Power steering didn't cut out and turning the wheel is very smooth:)
