Cheap Way to Get GCSE At Home?

I want to retrain and need to get my GCSE in maths (or keyskills level 2). However, the local college only has evening courses and being a single parent, getting childcare for the evenings is not easy. Is there a cheap way to study for this at home and then take the exam at the college? Has anyone done this? Any advise much appreciated. Am hoping to go to university next year and doing another course that is home based this year but also need this one for my entry requirements.

Thank you

Call Learn Direct, you can do GCSE in 10 weeks I believe, if you are eligible (depending on your area) you can do it for free.

I beleive there is an initial assesement to see what learning level you are at, then the rest can be done distance learning (e-learning)

Give them a call, you will find them very helpfull:)

Our local library and community centre do free Maths GSCE's. Worth asking. You can do a homestudy course you have to pay for those though. Try googling.

  • See if you can sit the exams at your local college (you may pay the fee). check out bbc.co.uk/bitesize for supporting materials.
