Hello, I'm new and hopefully I hope someone could help? I know this has probably been covered a thousand times but the insurance market changes? (apologises if it has been recently covered though)
Exchanging contracts hopefully soon and need to take out a basic house insurance policy (building only) and life insurance policy.
I've been on compare, morethan and confused.
Where else should I consider?
Thank you.

I think you have covered the comparisons pretty well! You could also try Aviva and Direct Line who are not on comparison sites and ring your local broker/ifa.
As you are getting ready to exchange it can be an advantage to use an insurance broker. This is because the date of exchange and completion can often change and then without a moments notice your solicitor will be literatly screaming for your insurance schedule! A quick call to your broker and they can issue the schedule instantly and fax it straight to the solicitor. It saves a lot of hassel, believe me.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. For life cover check if you have anything via your employer. If not find a good local IFA via reccomenation.
If you want really basic home insurance just try all the price comparison websites, not just confused. Be sure to insure for the rebuilding cost not the market value. As indicated above though if you pay a little more and use a local broker this can help.
You are also best advised so get contents cover as well.0
