Weekend in Reykjavik

I've just booked a weekend in Reykjavik and want to take a trip to the Blue Lagoon and maybe go on a whale watching trip too.
Can any one recommend any companies that do this?
Is the price better to book in advanvce or to wait till I get there?
As my time there is limited, I think I want to book in adavance so I don't miss availablity and so I can plan other sightseeing around the trips, but is it significantly cheaper to wait till I get there?
And any other Reykjavik recommendations would be fab too!
Thanks

The Blue Lagoon is on the bus route from the airport to town, I believe you can stop and pick up a later bus to continue, obviously fine if you arrive mid afternoon, not a lot of good if you are on a flight arriving at 2300. I would wait before booking a whale watching tour, it is dependent on whether the whales are there at the moment, the changes in sea temperature have meant their paths have changed in recent years. Most importantly bring plenty of layers of clothing, the weather can change very quickly. I hope you enjoy iceland, it does to be a very much 'marmite' destination, you either love it or hate it.0

We visited Reykjavik on a cruise. We opted to DIY the Blue Lagoon trip rather than take the ship's excursion. It was the same price DIY as doing it through the ship.
However the benefit of doing it DIY was that we were there when the coach parties weren't so got the lagoon to ourselves.0 -
Ok,
thanks.
The flight lands at about 3pm, so I'll have a look and see if that fits in with the Blue Lagoon times, if it's easy to DIY. I like the idea of avoiding the coash parties!
And thanks for the info on the whales too, that's not something I would ever have considred.
Mr Lahey - any reason why we should boycott Iceland??0
