Do you think we ever freak Martin out?

Options
I was thinking last night about how much admiration I had for Martin, and how he's like this divine leader of our little DFW cult :A(!!!!), and I was just wondering if we ever freak him out with our unstinting adoration ;)
I bet he's always getting waylaid by people confessing their undying devotion to the gospel according to Martin, and his MSE commandments - and I bet they all talk to him like he's their best friend! - I know I would. In fact, my boyfriend worries that I'm a little bit in love with Mr Lewis, and thinks that if I ever actually met him, I'd be in a pool of worshipful jelly on the floor in seconds :rotfl: Edit: I wouldn't of course - I'd be cool as a cucumber

So, do you think that sometimes we freak him out?

i dunno about martin but talk like that freaks me out  :rotfl:

i'd probably walk past him in the street and not notice it was him. to me martin isn't any kind of god or guru, just someone who is really clever on a certain subject and trying to help other people learn a little more about it to help themselves.

i'm afraid to admit it for fear of lynchings, but i do not idolise martin. i admire him though.
  • I think he'd worry if we are professing undying love for him... my boyfriend referred me to MSE and he's getting bored of it being included in every conversation!

But if you mean because we are all addicted to the site and his tips... I hope not, I hope he would be mightily flattered!

  • I was thinking this the other day.

And bearing in mind that I have met him!

I think I simply admire him for finding his niche. Finding a way, when seemingly there is no way, to make a living from saving people money. A guy who is guided by principles who makes a living. Amazing. If I ever had one of those questions like...which 'famous' people would you have round for dinner it would definately include him, Trevor Bayliss, and say Kelly Holmes. Not that I really go in for the whole famous person thing....there would be plenty of my mates at this dinner too!

I agree AF, I imagine Martin would be a very agreeable dinner party guest. Personally, I really admire his thoughtfulness and ethical stance, and also the way he explains things so that even I can understand them - I think 'ISA' and I see cake wrapped in cling film, it makes perfect sense now!

  • I'm more grateful to him than adoring I guess. Actually sharing his knowledge and consumer saviness (is that a word?) is a really great thing to do. I'm sure the adoration people ply on him is very flattering as it confirms to him that he is does his job very well . So thanks Mr Lewis (and the Richard Hammond Show that I first saw him on, which ultimately directed me to this site)

I have met him too and he is not a bit "celebrity" just a nice guy who cares passionately about his subject.
