New Alliance & Leicester to Santander Shock

Having repeatedly asked whether or not using a A&L/Santander Debit Card in a Santander Bank in Spain would be free and FINALLY being told it would be I received this today:
So from 26th November it will now cost £1.25 per withdrawal.
Looks like I need a Euro a/c somewhere!
.Accounts which were previously held with Alliance & Leicester will be aligned to the Santander fee tariff for using Debit Cards abroad. A fee of £1.25 will be charged for purchases in currencies other than sterling. All other fees remain unchanged
So from 26th November it will now cost £1.25 per withdrawal.
Looks like I need a Euro a/c somewhere!
