Hi,
I am after ideas please. Usually we book a villa, hire a car and stay away from the touristy areas for our holiday. Next year is our silver wedding anniversary and we fancy doing something different. We are not sure what we want but would like:
Thanks in advance. Hersheme x
I am after ideas please. Usually we book a villa, hire a car and stay away from the touristy areas for our holiday. Next year is our silver wedding anniversary and we fancy doing something different. We are not sure what we want but would like:
- Somewhere hot
- Possibly All Inclusive
- Not full of honeymooners
- Possibly adult only
- A beach (ideally a hotel on the beach)
- Not much to do but the chance of a few trips if we feel like it
Thanks in advance. Hersheme x

does egypt appeal to you? we stayed at reef oasis blue bay resort, has plenty of pools, own private beach with jetty,spa,24 hour all inclusive of all meals, snacks and drinks, several restaraunts including a la carte. its a lovely resort/hotel. it would depend on the time of year you want to travel on where to recommend a place to visit. if its winter the canaries will be warm as well, and maybe in summer egypt would be to hot0

Nong Khai in North East Thailand.
Fly to BKK. Stay in a Riverside Hotel.
Couple of nights there.
Overnight sleeper train to Nong Khai.
Stay right on the mighty Meekong at the Mutmee guesthouse.
Nong Khai is a really laid back town.
Perhaps cross the Friendship Bridge, and have a few days in Laos
or
Borneo, staying at a beach resort in Kota Kinabalu.0 -
My friend has just done 2 cruises in the past year...she won one, then chose to do another for her silver wedding as she loved the first one so much. There are plenty of cruise lines now that are much less formal and where you don't have to sit for a formal dinner. I know her last one at least was where food was available pretty much any time at all, no dress code...though on the actual date of their anniversary they did dress up and go to the formal restaurant, but you can do a lot more as you please on some these days0

We have considered cruising but dont fancy having to share a table at dinner or dressing up every night.
you don't have to share tables, have fixed dining times or get dressed up for dinner anymore.
NCL started with Freestyle Dining, and now many of the other lines are following them....
As for dressing up, only about half do it for formal night, on NCL is called dress up or not night.
Yes you need to wear longer trousers for the main dining rooms, and a T shirt with sleeves for most of the others, but I'd hardly call that "dressing up":DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Thanks in advance. Hersheme x
There are cruise lines where you are not expected to dress up, nor share tables so if that was the only thing putting you off then perhaps it'd be worth a re-think.
Azamara have a dress code that is referred to as Country Club Casual. For men that means something like chinos and an open shirt: no ties, no jackets. Wind Star have a similar dress code and along with Azamara don't have set dining times nor a requirement to share tables.
Azamara info here, Wind Star here.
Azamara changed their model earlier this year so their pricing now included gratuities and wine with lunch and dinner. That would take you fairly close to your interest in All Inclusive.
Happy researching,
