Funny you say that because I have clients that bake me cakes/biscuits when I visit, make me lunch and you wouldnt believe the amount of freshly picked fruit and veg I get given. I dont see much booze but a couple of bottles of wine or scotch a year is average. Not that I drink. Someone gave me a bottle of sherry earlier in the year and I havent got a clue what to do with that.

You can use it to make red onion marmalade which is super on sausage sandwiches or with BBQs

I used alexander hall. I couldnt agree more with doozergirl. You pop down there, get treated really nicely, loads of nice drinks, get given all the info you need all at no cost to me. Id done my own "research" via the interenet, calling banks and reading "what mortgage " ( zzzz) and I thought i knew what I wanted. they found me a deal with Abbey that was almost 70pcm cheaper a month than what Id "found"

If you still find something better and cheaper than the broker finds (pretty unlikely) then fine, take that. But I doubt it would happen as they have the specialist software and product knowhow that average joe just doesnt have.

But no one forces you to make sure you are getting a good deal, no one forces you to see a broker!
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Make a nice trifle with it, then chuck it over the head of the next compliance officer who does an audit and pulls you up on something.

    :rotfl:

I'm only saying that cos I've got my audit on Monday

You could always try plying them with the sherry first, Andy.

Save you the assault charge, maybe.

    ;)

  • Either that or just get my double barrell 12 gague out of the safe and lay it across the table.

    Think it may work?

    Actions speak louder than words!

:EasterBun (in a sort of mortgage broker eating compliance officer kind of way)

  • You can make an adult jelly. Like regular strawberry jelly but instead of water make it with red wine or half sherry/half water. Melt the jelly in little boiling water then top up with wine or sherry/water. Stir in some berries and flaked almonds. Chill til set and serve with thick cream.

Although it is advised to go to 'whole of market' brokers, some brokers have panel lenders, i.e. if they sell a mortgage from that panel they get far more commision. I know one chain of EAs brokers gets a few quid for selling an off panel mortgage, so they are bound to sell mortgages from their panel. In this case they still call themseleves whole of market.

So beware, don't just rely on a broker. Checkout the net for youself. They are many websites helping you choose the best mortgage!

With IFAs you cannot place more than 20% of your business with a single provider without facing a potential audit to ensure you are giving best advice. If it is shown that you are favouring one provider, then the FSA can take the independent/whole of market tag away. Im not sure if the same or similar applies to mortgage advisers.

A good adviser will show you the research on request. Many show it anyway.
