Good credit rating but refused credit card

Just been refused a credit card by HSBC who I also bank with.

They said I had a good credit rating but as i've been away travelling and not had money paid in every month the last 6 months they wouldnt process the application.

They didnt do a credit check so this shouldn't have lowered my score.

I get my first pay at the end of the month from a new job.

Is every credit card company likely to tell me the same? is the another company i'm better off going with who will process the application?

You can apply elsewhere but having been in your job for next to no time will be a risk signal and, does mean that you don't actually have a good credit rating at the moment.

Contrary to what these companies who seel you your "score" want you to believe, your credit rating is made up of much more than how much you owe and whether you've missed any payments etc. It's not just your creidit file that dictates what your credit score is.

Your score is affected by how long you've been with your bank, at your address, and with your employer. It also is affected by your residential status, marital status, and whether you have any dependants.
