I have been waiting on Martain to tell me what to do with the Child Trust Fund. It should be arriving in the next few days so I am at a loss as to where to put it. I think I am going to for the shares option but wish Martain could tell me whice one? Does anyone know what he has said on the matter???

You don't need to be in such a rush; you cannot (technically) open the account until the start of the new tax year (April 6th).
It is highly unlikely (will not happen) that Martin will comment on stocks / shares based CTF investment - because no one has crystal ball and it all comes down to your own risk / reward attitude.
If you are comfortable that stcks / shares investments are much, much higher risk - by risk I mean you may get back less than you originally invested (unlikely over the long term but you need to understand accept the possibility) - then you could pick an index tracker fund (comdirect allow you to invest in the L&G UK Index Fund) alternatively look at the Friendly Societies listed on the CTF website.

What ever advice you receive you MUST accept responsibility for the investment (good or bad).

Fyi, I've posted previously that what I intent to do (assuming this is all allowed within the rules, etc), is to invest the CTF cheque and monthly payments into the L&G UK INdex fund (via Comdirect) until there is a reasonable balance and will then look at a bit more active investing strategy, before migrating the investments back into cash / bonds, etc as the 18th birthday nears.Personal Responsibility - Sad but True
