Faulty leather jacket from Attic

Hi folks,

I am just wondering what my rights are with regards to a faulty item of clothing which is less than a year old.

I paid £380 for a leather 'Diesel' jacket from Attic back in November, and the popper buttons on one of the sleeves have come off the jacket with just normal use.

The jacket is not damaged in any other way and has not been mistreated in any way.

Am I within my rights to ask for a refund or credit note or can they just offer a replacement/repair? The problem with getting a replacement is that the jacket was just in a sale in the same store and priced at £250!

Would I be within my rights to accept a replacement and ask for the remaining balance as a credit note or refund?

And am I within my rights to insist on a full refund and refuse a replacement?

Many thanks in advance,

- Stojio -

EDIT: Also worth noting is I do not have a receipt, however I do have a bank statement showing I paid Attic £380 back in November.

You'll more than likely be offered a repair.

Suits me, but can I insist on a refund?

You can ask, but no you can't insist.
  • as it is over 6 months they would be within their rights to ask you to prove that the damage is inherent and not from misuse which would mean you getting a written report from an independant company to state the fault was there from purchase.

Thanks, that's ok then...but if it happens again, where would I stand? I don't want to be in the position of taking it for repairs every few months...
