Hi - I was wondering if someone could clarify my understanding please?
I have previously had a default on my credit file that was recorded in 2006. This changed to 'Settled' approx 2 months ago - at the time I had no idea why! However I have checked again today and I have a new record form Aktiv Kapital for the same amount. I assume that has been sold on.
My question is though, should I have been told? I have never received a letter from the original creditor to say that they were selling it, nor one from Aktiv Kapital saying they now owned the debt. I have not moved so all of my contact details remain the same.

Yes they should have told you, but as they haven't started chasing you for it yet then they could still be working on that... Just make sure that they put the correct default expiry details on your file and don't enter a newer date. I guess you could also ask to have the original default removed if they have put a new one on there...
Are you sure though that the debt was sold and they are not just acting on behalf of and have updated the details with the credit ref company? Just a thought

Thank you
I was just concerned as I knew nothing about it being passed on. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens next!0
