Business taken over,can new owner make redundancies straight away?

Hi this is on behalf of my mum.Mum works as a manager for small business,well she was told today business had been sold and new owner was coming in in the next few weeks.She's worried that they can make her redundant straight away.What are her rights and are they entitled to do that?

    The new company can make redundancies as long as the follow the correct procedures.
