Loosing no claims after 2 years??

Hi all,

I accumulated 5 years worth of NCD between 2002-07 then i sold my car as i moved in with my partner. We shared his car and i was a named driver on his policy but he had to be the main driver on the policy even though i used the car more then him as he had 9 points at the time. He now has a company car so won't be using our shared car. Is it true i now lose my NCD that i've built up as i havnt had my OWN insurance for 2 years now? It's so frustrating as technically i have 8 years no claims!

Thanks peeps

Yes, unfortunately it is correct. It is 2 years with most Insurers and 3 years with Aviva Insurance.

The only thing I can advise is that if you can find a Broker who is part of the COBRA network and find whether they can place a policy for you with Royal & Sun Alliance as they can offer no claims discount for drivers that have been named on another Policy. Obviously it wouldnt be 8 years bonus, but it would help.
