Advice about a car insurance claim please

There is an insurance ombudsman you can go through. I think that the fact that there are witnesses who provided detailed decription etc and the fact that girlfriend was not even in the car etc holds her in a very strong position. She is paying the insurers and at the end of the day they should be providing a service and not trying to go with the cheapest option to them in 'paying for the cost without pursuing third party'. Third party are in the wrong and should be chased/made to pay.
