if they come to the door, is it illegal to tell them i dont live there anymore even if i obviously still do??? If that makes sense.

im not sure if it is illegal, but would propably better just to write to them and withdraw their comman law right to come to the propertyHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.
Please note that any views i put forth are not those of my former employer The Insolvency Service and do not constitute professional advice, you should always seek professional advice before entering insolvency proceedings.0 -
They have no powers in law, just tell them politely to sling their hook.:pB&SC No. 298

I wouldn't tell them you don't live there anymore, they then may add costs to your debt to trace you, only to find you do actually live there and they will be then very reluctant to bother being reasonable with you in the future...

Thanks guys, a help as always. I have written to them with the template letter but they have come again today. I was out but i have a feeling they will start talking to my neighbours next. They have put a card through the door asking me to phone them confirming that i live at the address, hence my question.
Thank you x0 -
Not not br yet immoral angel. I have been trying to find ways to avoid it as i may have some permanent work soon so if they would all accept reduced payments it might mean then it could be prevented but really dont know yet. It may mean that its prevented short term. Will have to see.

Lillibet, thanks for your constructive reply, it was exactly what I expected from a person like you! You may have more posts than me but most of them are irrelevant comments and obviously from your latest thread reference debt collectors you have yet to go through bankruptcy.0

Lillibet - have you picked a This Is It Date? As in the date you throw in the towel?? You cannot carry on like this, on way or another.
As to the debt collector why not talk to them?? Meet them up the garden path and lock the door behind you. Tell them thanks but you will be going BR in a few weeks due and their companys inability to help come to a settlement has forced you down this path. Tell them its a shame, but they have had a wasted trip and please don't bother coming back as you will not open the door to them. Smile nicely and then take a walk to the shops.0 -

How are lillibets comments irrelevant exactly? She's at the pre-bankruptcy stage, she has DCAs arriving at her door, she needs advice - and this in the main is still an informative and friendly place to get that advice. So are my posts here, in your opinion kepar, just as irrelevant as lillibets? I'm not BR yet either but have asked questions here, and have passed on any relevant info I've found out here too. Just like lillibet is doing.0 -
