Cost of claim? -car insurance-

Hello,

I hope somebody can help me with this.
In the end of May I had a little accident with my car. Insurence company said that it was not sure who was to blaime and it will be 50/50. I have fully compreh. insurence. I have paid excess £350 and my car for fixed (just scratched bumber and broken plastic cover)

In the end of October my insurence will run out and I am looking for something new. Problem is that new insurence company is asking what was a COST OF CLAIM?

Does anybody know where I can get it? I have tried call my current insurence but I can get hold of them. (unfortunately I am with 1central!!!!:().

Thank you

  • Can you estimate it? As long as you disclose the claim and put a reasonable estimate of costs down this should be fine. You could also contact the new insurer and explain that you are unsure of the costs. I'm pretty sure most insurers will not be too bothered if you dont know the exact figures.

Generally if you want a proper idea the insurer handling the claim will be able to tell you.... if its first central good luck!

    Thank you, :)
I will probably call my new insurence company and explain my situation.

You could try calling the company that did the repair.

If your excess is £350 in total, and this has been resolved as 50/50, then you can claim half of your excess (plus half of all your other uninsured losses) off the third party.

    Can I?
I taught that my insurence is handling it all.
It seams that my insurence is still waiting for replay from the third party (for about 3 months now!!!) Is is usuall to get some of your excess money back?

Of course (except where you are 100% at fault)!

If you have "legal expense" cover, then use that, otherwise (once liability is agreed) write a letter to the third party detailing all your uninsured losses (with copies of receipts etc) and ask them to reimburse you 50% (or whatever figure they are held liable for the incident).
