That depends on the retailer - some pay out very fast, some take forever.

On the page where you are actually redirecting fromm quidco to them is little note (on the right hand side top corner) saying how quickly they track on average and how quickly they pay out on average..
  • I wonder if employers would see this as being any different to expenses claims for work-related purchases on a credit card that gives cashback.

I know of a number of people who expense £10,000+ p.a. on Hotel accomodation, but pay for it on a cashback credit card - bagging themselves £100s in cashback.

That's true! I'd never thought about that. In all fairness, I don't worry about claiming points from supermarkets when I buy work things, so I don't think the odd hotel and flight is that different.

    Thanks for the help guys!

  • I've done it a couple of times, it's a right boon. The company would still be forking out the same amount of money if I did it or not.
  • Although on the other side, the company I work for specifically has a policy saying it's OK, so long as you buy from a company you were going to anyway, for the same stuff, for the same price you would have done without cashback. Same with airmiles, petrol points, and that kind of thing - we're allowed to keep those.
  • It may be considered a conflict of interest. You could purchase items from a store that benefit yourself (ie; the ones that quidco pay out on).
On a similar theme, just think how many company reps gain air miles and hotel points etc to trade in for free holidays. Some companies insist that you don't claim these as it could be considered a benefit and bias the selection of your provider.
  • We are specifically not allowed to keep for personal use any benefits derived from work expenses - airmiles, cashback on cards, that sort of thing, so I'd imagine cashback sites would fall under that policy.
  • I used to work for a company that often provided buffets, the catering manager would often put Tesco receipts through expenses which would have 1000's of points per quater. I must admit that I thought it was wrong that she had an additional benefit in kind that was not available to anyone else. Not that I actually said anything though, I just felt that it wasn't her money to gain the points against her account. So even though quid co points are not as obvious you would have to be careful that no one knew.
