santander debit card transactions being declined

Hello everyone,
Was just wondering if anyone else with a santander debit visa card being having trouble with their transactions like i have over the past few days?
I have already gone into my local bank yesterday was dealt with by 2 ladies who were totaly baffled to why i am having trouble as they checked my card and found it not to be blocked and to have sufficient funds in there too. I check my account daily online too and everything is how it should be..no fraud suspected as all purchases made are by me etc but i have recently being making more purchases then normal recently and mentioned this too the ladies at my local but they said that my card would be blocked if the bank had suspected anything was wrong. I can not make transactions without being declined online at a atm or in a shop and it has been a problem now for 3 days. Before now i have never had problems with my bank card that i use presently which is all up to date etc only being issued a few months back so not out of date.
The ladies at the local got me to change my pin number on the atm in the branch thinking that will sort the problem but it never did so they have issued a new pin to be sent out to me but i really don't think this is going to work as the new pin i created yesterday made no difference also you don't use a pin to purchase online so assuming this isnt going to make a difference and i wont get my new pin till next week so its a long wait to just find out its proberly not going to work but my local branch were although trying to be helpful they really did not have a clue.
I have read in the past the systems have had problems and only end of last month people having problems with transactions although my card was fine then but not come across anyone in the last few days to experience any trouble as yet.
I will need to ring the bank up and hope they will help me soon when i can get hold of them as i have no landline and no credit on my phone and now no working card to get some credit..also read a lot about bad customer service regarding santander so hoping i don't get messed around.

I've been having problems with my Alliance & Leicester (now part of Santander) debit card recently. My card is being "declined by bank" when I try to transfer small amounts of money or make payments to some websites and it gets blocked if I attempt to re-enter my details 3 times meaning I have to contact the bank to get my card unblocked again.
The first time I realized my card was blocked was when it was refused at my local supermarket - that was embarrassing.
Granted I'm using !!!!!! websites but they are SSL certified so they shouldn't be getting red-flagged. I think Santander's anti-fraud software is overly aggressive.
It's a good thing I had some cash in my wallet last time it happened because it's no joke to be 50 miles from home with no way to pay for petrol to get home. What really annoys me is that the bank won't contact me or even show any message on my online bank account to let me know there is a problem. It's poor service.0 -
There is probably a "sticky referral" on the card which is why it is being declined.
If you have made a lot of transactions which are not the norm recently, the Santander fraud team will block the card.
These blocks cannot be viewed by branch staff and they need to sit with you and call the Santander Card Services Team. You will need to visit the branch with photo ID and your card and explain to them what has happened.
If the branch does not know what you are talking about ask for the manager or visit another branch.

I believe there have been problems in the last two or three days, with Visa, Mastercard and PayPal.
Hackers in support of 'wikileaks' are trying to close those sites down.
