watch out you don't lose your Nectar points: EDF or Sainburys energy

I've just found out I've lost all my Nectar points for the last year because I did not actively claim them, nor did Sainsburys (or EDF) write to tell me that I had to do so - it used to be automatically credited to my Nectar account in the past. That's £900 of energy Nectar points  For some reason, EDF tell me that it's now too late to get the last year's and I must claim them anytime in 2011 and annually thereafter.

I think it's a rip off but am just warning others that Nectar rules have changed to mean you have to ring Sainsbury's Energy or EDF once a year to actively claim your points.

This is what it says on the Nectar site. I always got my points accredited automatically to my Nectar before. Who can I complain to - EDF or Nectar?

I've been with EDF since 2006 on various tariffs, now online. Initially you just registered your Nectar card and the points got added each year. It's only recently that this stopped being automatic.
I complained that I'd lost all my points for 2009 so they say they will reinstate them within a few days, just not the 300 bonus points. It's 1200 points which, as my local supermarket is Sainsburys', is a major reason for being with them. I didn't get notified by post; all I ever get are computer generated letters inviting me to pay by dd and join dual fuel, both of which I already do.....

We've tried countless times to register our nectar card (even though we signed up instore at sainsburies and gave our nectar card details then - also never recieved the incentive nectar points..) online via the links given, over the phone, sending slips of paper back. no joy.

EDF promised me they'd credit my account in a few days. I'll keep an eye on it I think. Did you phone CS and ask for their Nectar dept (they have one) and to speak to a manager?
