It would be preferable to have a fitted hob "plumbed" in with fixed pipework from the valve rather than rubber hoses (might actually be a requirement i'm not too sure but seems sensible
Not only preferable but as you state now a requirement
From this forum http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=312657Gas hobs have to be fitted with rigid copper pipe and not a hose via a bayonet fitting(Gas Regs). They also need an isolation valve which must be accessable and near to the hob.0 -
an alternative gas hob . . .
is one supplied with LPG (bottled Gas). We don't have mains gas, so we had no choice ('cos I dont like 'lecky hobs). There are lots of hobs that can be fitted for LPG, and a bottle of propane lasts over a year and (may be) easy to fit outside and pipe thro' the wall.0 -
Thanks for all the replies, everyone. It sounds like it might not be too expensive if the gas supply is already there. I suppose I was really trying to figure out whether it would be a huge part of the kitchen budget that could be more usefully spent on something else, but it doesn't look like it would be. I will get someone in to have a look nearer the time. Thanks again.0
