How do you keep track of what you have entered?

I was wondering if there is any way of keeping a log of what comps I enter so that I don't enter the same comps twice? I don't want to be disqualified from any comps that I enter twice and alot of comps have similar questions and answers so make it difficult to just remember if I have entered. I hope you understand what I mean.

Hi, If you need to keep a log of entries, write each one down in an exercise book and then mark your wins with a big red pen! Best of luck!
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

I don't keep track at all. If I click on a comp that I think I may have entered before I enter in OH's name with a different email address.
  • Hi Julie, I did think of doing that but I am entering quite alot recently and that would be too time consuming. I enter comps when I have a spare two mins here and there ( when kids allow it lol ) so I don't really have time to keep a manual log.

    What does everyone else do?

I just try to remember which ones I entered! You could add every page which has a comp into your favourites (in a folder called competitions entered) then if you think you entered have a look at the folder. It only takes a couple of seconds to do to add each page.

I just came up with that idea now and actually I might start doing it because I have the same problem!

PS, I also have a questions, how are you normally contacted to say if you've won a prize? Or does it depend?
  • Hi Rarchy that is a good idea actually I might do that. I was kind of hoping there would be some site that would automatically do it for me. Wishful thinking...

In my limited experience of winning, most prizes just arrive, many without even a compliments slip so you don't even know where they are from. The only time I have had a phone call was with the roadtrip to europe that I won last week.

When I enter the comps on here I always thank the OP. Then I can tell what ones I've entered and what I havn't. The rest is just remembering.

Hi, Rachy- Re -notice of prizes.
There are many difffrent ways I have been told " Congratulations, you are a winner". The most popular I have had is a letter in with the prize parcel. Next I would say is a LWE (long white envolope) with a letter telling you to expect a parcel. With the moving times, I think email could become popular...Have had a couple this way, If it is a local comp-I have had them just knock on the door and hand over the goodies.
The one I don't like is the phone call, often after you listen on the phone to what they have to say-when it gets to the end they ask for credit card details-my standard reply is "you don't have to pay if it is a prize", the phone soon goes dead if it is a con... I am sure some phone calls are for real, but not usually the ones I get!
Feel free to ask any more questions, I have been comping many years- might even call myself a pro-if only I could get someone to give me a car.

Loquax runs a competition tracker. Find out how to use it through their help menu.

One other idea is to press "print screen" at the top right hand of your keyboardwhen you are on the last page of the comp you are entering. Keep word for windows open and when you go into it press control and V at same time. This will paste a picture of your last screen of the competition into your word document and you can keep a record in this document. Try it, you'll soon get the idea.

I have found that email is by far the most popular way of telling me I've won something. Other than that I have had one dvd come through the post recorded delivery, but with no letter or anything inside so I can't remember for the life of me where it came from. Maybe I should keep track;)

I'd have no need for the big red pen :(;)
