Best long haul xmas deal !?!

Basically, I'm looking for a long haul 2 week break for two over the christmas/new year period and I've no idea where to start.

Our potential choices of destination are currently India, Thailand, Africa or head to Canada for skiiing!

What I want is the best deal possible (don't we all!). It could be a package deal or flights + accommodation and up to around £700 each. I've hunted through some of the flight offers listed on MSE, but haven't found anyhting to these destinations.

Oh, and we're based in Scotland so flights from Edinburgh or Glasgow would be ideal, or we could get a linking flight.

Any suggestions for flights, or companies to use would be much appreciated!

Flying on scheduled airlines on 25th and 26th December can be cheapest.

    https://www.flyglobespan.com fly from Scotland.

Knock Thailand and Southern Africa on the head at that budget for those dates. Not much help, but will save you loads of wasted time trying.

  • I think your going to struggle to get any of the destinations you actually want for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year for £700 each.

You could do 2 separate weeks to the canaries. First 16-23 or 17-24 December, very cheap, 2nd week leaving 26 or 27 December for one week.

You also avoid the 50 quid compulsory christmas eve gala dinner.

  • If you are interested in Canada, you can try Canadian Affair for flights as they can be much cheaper than BA or Air Canada for the period you would like to go. However, wouldn't recommend it if you are travelling with babies.
  • Wow, I really didn't think I'd get any replies to this.
Thanks for the help as some suggestions will really save me wasting lots of time.
  • Try this site....it's been recently updated and looks much better than it used to. They always seem to have good prices on places like Singapore, Thialand and Hong Kong. I have used them on a number of occasions for New Zealand via Air Malaysia, JAL or Singapore Airlines ( Don't use Garuda in case they still exist )

Look for the link for Special Offers on the left hand side

    another good site is http://www.travelbag.co.uk

I have used these for my recent trips to Aus and New Zealand and have been impressed by the prices.

Remember Christmas prices always go up after the 9th of December. If you want a bargain either book well in advance or go before this date.
  • Last year I went away for xmas and new year to thailand and i used teletext for the first time, although the £495 for 2 weeks did not emerge, £950 for 4 days bangkok and 10 days phuket all transfers included which was a god send.

  • Thailand is possible but I think only a 10night trip for that amount of cash..although it is cheap when you get here ;) Def way cheaper then Canada (what with the compulsive tipping)...and you can mix it up with city, mountains and beach although maybe not all of them in 10nights.
If you end up going to thailand pm me and I will send you lots of general info for you.
I live there :o so any questions I will be able to help.
