password protect documents? and memory usb sticks....

HI
I have installed truecrypt on my machine. I wanted it to encrypt all files on my usb.
However, I cannot access my usb files now. I set up a volume (plus a hiden one) but after I mount it and try to open files, it says that the drive has not been formatted -i tried formatting but it wouldn't let me do that.
I think I just want to get rid of the whole thing. How do I do this?0 -

this com is secure but my sister comes and uses it and my brother 'fixes/checks' it regularry (because i seem to have a habit of breaking it) and i dont want them coming across and then reading very personal conversations  any ideas? thanks
I'm not technically minded - one easy idea I found is to use Winzip or some similar compression software. Just take a load of files, and zip them up into a winzip file then add a password to them. I would buy a memory stick and keep new stuff on that, then put all your old stuff in winzip and delete the originals.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
The problem with the winzip method is that the program creates temporary copies of the files if you edit them whilst they are still zipped. It can't always delete them afterwards, leaving an unprotected copy somewhere on you rmachine.
Personally, I use AxCrypt, it sounds similar to TrueCrypt but without the virtual drive mumbo-jumbo. You right-click on a file, ask to encypt it using axcrypt, it asks for a password (or uses a default that you can set for all files), and you're away. When you want to work with the file again, double click it and enter the password.0
