How much have you really saved?

Only just had a chance to check back on my post. Thanks for all the comments folks. There's an interesting mix of responses. I would imagine a lot of this saving craze depends on the amount of disposable income you have. If you have a "comfortable" amount then saving isn't necessarily as important compared to the saving of time. If you work closely to tight budgets then it makes a lot of sense to save every penny you can.0

I think it also depends on how much time you have thecruncher, if you're working or looking after kids etc. its going to be harder to find the time for researching everything, but if you're out of work and trying to fill your time and stop yourself going nuts then it can make a lot of sense to spend more time trying to get the best bargain you can when you do buy something I reckon.0

I've found the best way to get DVDs cheep is to set up an amazon wishlist of all the things you want (I buy a lot of PS3 games and do it for these too). Then when you want to buy yourself something, buy the current cheapest on the list. The list is all things you want and if you don't mind what order you get things, you can save a lot of money.
This mostly works because the longer a game/CD/DVD/book has been out, the cheeper it gets, it wont work for everything but if you throw in how easy and fast this is to set up + the free delivery from amazon you come out quids in.0 -

That is a killer tip. Thanks for sharing it.0 -
I personally do check comparison sites for DVD's/Games/books etc and especially around christmas time-when we could all do with spending less-i'll check prices of most things that i buy online. It all adds up. I dont really check prices of smaller things, but if i notice something cheap in Home Bargains that usually costs more, then i'll try and stock up to save money in future.September £5 a day challenge £65.41/£1250

I find I spend my time looking at my finances, budgeting and trying to find extra bits to save, rather than looking for things at cheap prices. (Not that I don't, but I don't spend ages doing it).0
