Recipes for throat lozenges?

Hi there! I want to make some throat lozenges and I don't know where to start. I found a recipe on the BBC for elderflower ones, but I don't want to buy gum arabic really, and would like a simpler recipe.

I've got a lot of elderberries (no flowers). Any ideas? :D

Do you have any sage? This is a simple recipe -

Add a handful of fresh sage leaves to 600ml water and simmer for 15 minutes.
Strain the liquid into a fresh pan and to it add 600g sugar.
Heat gently, (don't let it boil), stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
Stir in the juice of a lemon, 2 tablespoons honey, and 100g butter.
Bring to a fast boil and boil until the syrup reaches the hard ball stage - when a teaspoon of the syrup forms a hard ball when dropped into cold water.
Pour the syrup into a shallow, well buttered tin and allow to cool. Just before it sets mark into squares and then leave to harden completely.
Cut into squares and store in an air-tight jar.

If you have no sage, just add sugar to water and go from there -the lemon and honey and butter are good for sore throats on their own.

The same recipe but with horehound instead of sage, and no honey, is good for coughs.

If I'm over the hill, where was the top?
