Hello All
Am looking for B&B in the Bowness/Windermere/Coniston/Ambleside area of the lakes for this Friday night 29th.
Can anyone recommend a nice one (preferably no chintz!)?
Thanks

We have just come back from a week in the Lake District and we stayed at this place http://www.meadowcroft-guesthouse.com/sitemap/guest_house_in_Windermere.html
It was an absolute dream. It was refurbished less then three years ago. It is beautifully decorated with no chintz (I know exactly what you mean!). We had a snifty round the empty rooms (when we had a chance) and they are all beautiful. Breakfast is superbly cooked and you help yourself to juice, cereal, yoghurt, toast and jams. Tea and coffee are plentiful.
It is the best B&B we have stayed in and I would highly recommend it.
It is in Ings Village and on the main road next to a garage but that did not make any difference. We heard no noise and the garage was not a problem at all as the building turns away from it. It is then a short drive to the areas you have mentioned. There should be rooms available on Friday.
Other than that, there is one called Orrest Head Guest House. The rooms are clean and lovely but a little chintzy. We would have gone back there but the breakfasts are not that brilliant to be honest.0
