My daughter had this last year. If i remember rightly she had the herald patch for a couple of weeks then the main rash came out. It definately didn't last for months more like a week and went on its own with no treatment. I hadn't heard about using head n shoulders but could be worth a try (on a small area first maybe) as I can't see how it could do any harm.
Hope you feel better soon.0 -
ive had this for last few months.... although i always feel like carp so didnt notice feeling any worse. my dermatologist said there is no treatment that can help, as they often just make it worse. my are fading, had it for 4 months in total i think.
they dont know the cause, pls dont worry as that wont help your immune system anyway. It will fade, just takes time. all my back, ribs, and stomach where covered, and i looked as though i had lots of bruises. They do fade though, i promise. Please be nice to all moneysavers!

ahh thanks guys, well i did notice a few sort of small dark patches on my stomach a couple of weeks ago and a large patch on my shoulder, which the doctor told me was the 'herald patch' very itchy and annoying though and looks terrible, it looked worse last night, very angry looking but this morning seems to be a little less red.
Apparently some sort of thistle milk and something in the head and shoilders helped some people and sunbeds, not willing to try that though!0 -
Hiya, I have the other form of Pityriasis & have had it for years, Selsun Shampoo works but stinks! Not sure if it'd help for PR at all but it could be worth a try0

I had it and it lasted for six weeks. I used sudocrem on the spots, which seemed to help. I do remember another friend of mine using head & shoulders shampoo.0

I had this last autumn - I first noticed it in mid September and it had fully cleared up by mid December. So it can last a while but gets better by itself in the end. Please don't look on the internet for horror stories about how long it can potentially last for though, I was convinced I'd have it for the rest of my life but my doctor told me that it's very rare that it lasts more than 4-8 weeks.
Things that help:
- Head & Shoulders used as shower gel (but do NOT use a shower pouffe or anything, ow!)
- Aqueous cream - couple of £ for a massive tub from pharmacies, Wilkos etc - use as much as you can as often as you can. This can also be used as shower gel, but be careful as it can make the floor of your shower/bath slippery. It's very important to keep your skin moisturised when you have PR as it dries out your skin so badly
- Chamomile lotion for the itching
- I also used Bio Oil on the bigger spots / areas where it was worst. No idea if it helped, but I think it made my skin feel less dry and itchy!
I hope this helps. I was absolutely desperate to get rid of it after a while, as the itching gets worse before it gets better. I had a few lotions prescribed by my doctor but they were bloomin' expensive and, in my opinion, didn't help us much as the things I've listed above.
Hang in there - it's a horrible condition to have but it will go away eventually! Until that happens, you have all my sympathy!:www: Saving for a deposit - Target £30k by 24/03/14 (30th Birthday!) :www:

I've had this and it was awful. According to a hallmate, you could see some on my neck. I also had it on my eyelids and what I had my knuckles, the skin cracked.
I was given steroid cream, a antihistamine and another medication - can't remember what this was for. It lasted for about 2 months. Brilliant start to the new uni year. (not!)Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
