 BE WARNED:
Direct Line have told me that they have a back log of 10 weeks before they will even consider my claim.
I have just received my renewal notice and I have phoned their little red telephone and told them I shall not be renewing. They asked me why

Is this home? car? bike?
I have to say that I am much more fussy about service these days and not just price.
That's not a comment on your choice as I know Direct Line has given good service in the past.0 -
Travel insurance claim on my home plus policyWhat sort of claim is it ?
I agree cheap is not always best. I chose Direct Line after comparing the level of cover offered by several providers.
I am considering NFU who I understand are one of the best if and when I need to make another claim."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

That's interesting especially as DL were offering the travel policy free for customers who bought their Home Plus policy which is their premium policy.
DL have always been fairly good on claims etc in the past, it's good that you have brought it to MSE members attention so they can take this into account when weighing up a DL travel policy.
What sort of claim are you making from the travel policy ?0 -
What is your source for this.
Is it a delay for all claims; certain types of claims or your claim?
Before we condemn lets have all the facts.
I can only report what I was told. My source is Direct Line.
If you feel the need to check "the facts" there is a recorded message on 0845 0260246 and I got more details via telephone number 01420 566056"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Is there any hardship for you in waiting? If so escalate this.0

It is no particular hardship, but I am quite annoyed. Their excuse is they have a very high number of claims. Maybe RBS should hire more staff / redeploy those staff they are laying off?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Direct Line (RBS Insurance) are a massive company and have a lot of customers so yup I agree with you, they should hire more staff instead of having a 2.5 month backlog on claims... Seems like they're trying to take on more and more work and expecting their current staff levels to cope.0
