Joint savings account

Does anyone know of an easy access joint account that is paying good interest at the moment?
My brother and I want to put aside some money to help out our elderly father if necessary - I`ve looked at several of the best buys but they say they are not available for more than one applicant.

Thanks

  • Northern Rock have the Branch Saver 1.9% AER annual interest or 1.89% AER monthly, instant access.

Looking at the application form for the Branch Saver 90, higher rate 90 days notice, you may be able to open it in trust for your father so that all the interest would be taxed as your fathers income, the ideal solution if your father does not pay tax. If you open it jointly then the interest is divided equally among the account holders for tax purposes so that you would pay tax on your portion of the interest.
