Decorating our house

We've been thinking about getting professionals in to redecorate our house. We have 7 rooms over 3 floors.

We're in Yorkshire, and I wondered if anyone had a rough idea what a decent quote would be?

You don't mention room sizes at all which makes it a bit of a

exercise. A bedroom with 10m2 of walls to be painted costs a lot less than one with 25m2 for example.

    Two observations:

1 Rethink not including the ceilings. Ceilings should always be done first, then walls then woodwork. If the ceilings look carp when the rest is all bright and shiny you'll regret it.

    2. Contractor to supply paint within his price not you. You only specify the colour aand the finish. That way you avoid the "its not good" - "but its that carp paint you made me use against my better judgement" and the "you haven't bought enough go and get me some more please" discussions.

Having said that you are prolly looking at an ROM price somewhere between £1k and £1½k assuming he does supply all the paint and he does do the ceilings. Can't do any better than that based on data provided.

    Cheers

I got quoted for £1500 to do the stairs, ceiling and hallway. Remove old lining paper on wall & replaced provided the walls are in good conditionn. It is a period house with high ceilings. I was also quoted £750 for the same job if he does not have to replace lining paper but patch them & paint over as the house was re-wired. I have not done anything as I am afraid what to find once the lining paper is removed. I am not ready financially for a replastering job.
