Pnock is absolutely correct about mywebsearch. As suggested above I would definitely run malwarebytes as you will have malware - which will also slow your computer down. Also AVG is not great at it's job recently so that should be changed. But first run malwarebytes (update definitions first) and post log here. We will then advise you with what should be removed etc.
Also you can remove Lavasoft as Malwarebytes is better.0 -
Right, I've done all that and run Malwarebytes which was clear:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46

Reluctant to upgrade to IE8 on this machine as we did it once before and it choked on it.
Will change AVG to another one, once I have decided which one to go for.
Thanks for all your help, it is now faster than it was, though it still takes a while to jump onto the net. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Instead of just listening to my OH's comments on the computer I am now on it myself. Thank you everyone, it is now a LOT better, IE managed to connect in 30 seconds as opposed to the old 4 mins, and everything is that much looser! Am now getting up the nerve to try out IE8 again to see how it goes. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
