Zone 6 season ticket extension question

A question i've never got a good answer too.
I have a NR Season ticket, that covers Newbury - Z1-6
I often go to Headcorn (Kent)
If I have time i go to the ticket office and get my season ticket exteded for the Kent journey ie Z6 boundry to Headcorn.
If i am in a hurry i buy a a ticket online from Orpington where the train MAY NOT STOP to headcorn.
is this invalid, or is it ok because "one of my tickets is a season"
