What say do you have when National Grid work on a broken gas pipe on your land??
Wondering if anybody could help me, I have looked all over the internet and cannot find an answer..
My mother had a gas leak at the front of her house and now new piping has to be put down. The gas meter is in the garage and they have said they cannot go into the garage because of the concrete floor. They have told her they need to move the gas meter to the front of the house and run new pipe from the broken pipe in the ground to the new meter.
My question/problem is that the new pipe that runs to the new meter has been put on the front of the house running under the front door. She tried to get them to run it under the slabbed drive (only about 12 feet) but they have said they can't and it must run along the house even thought the pipe before was under ground. I cant seem to find out who has the say??
Any help would be really appreciated.

sounds like if the ng do as asked it would require running a complete new service to the property from the street which may not be viable. - but there are lots of reasons and as the service pipe belongs to national grid it is their decision within all the regulations that go along with gas pipes where they can and cannot do it.
If as requested they were to put it under slabs they would most likley have to arrange for site survey and a lot more behind the scenes to check what other pipes/wires/cables etc are there before they peak under a slab thus delaying the restoration of gas, or it may have been looked into and found for various reasons not to be vialble .
You could raise an enquiry with National Grid on 0845 605 6677 and the Customer support team can investigate reasons for you.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

Hi
I take it the pipe you are talking about is the copper outlet which has been run along to reconnect to the existing copper pipework in the garage? As the new meter box is in the front.
To be honest it could be run under the ground but ng wont do it as its too much work and hassel.I know it doesnt always look nice but thats the way most jobs like that are done im afraid
