Add or Remove Missing Programs

in Techie Stuff
Running win XP which seems to be OK but when I go to start--control panel and click on "add or remove" there are no programs there.
Also when I type in msconfig in "run" and click on start up,there`s nothing there either.
Any ideas.

if u have recently installed xp or this is a new machine without any software there will not be any programs to remove0
