Just for curiosity...what could I have claimed?

Hello, I lived and worked in the UK (Scotland) between August 2009 and February 2010...first job after graduation, technical support service.
I earned 17000£/year gross + bonus for working in night shifts or being on-call. I only claimed Working Tax Credits (thanks to my manager who told me about them)...just for curiosity, what other benefits could I have claimed? My situation was
- Single, no children
- Lived in 3 different rented flats (always flatsharing, the last one with the landlord and his wife, so I guess technically it was "lodging"). I did not pay directly Council Tax, but of course did the landlord
- No disability (although sometimes I have small pain from one of my knee cap, but it doesn't prevent me from walking, only from running for long times, or driving for long distances, if I have to press with my left feet the friction for long periods of time), and I wear glasses (which I recently needed to change)
- Around 3000 Euros in savings (not in a UK bank account, obviously)

Also, I will need some braces for the teeth, and removal of wisdom teethes...Here in Germany I will have to pay thousand of Euros for my braces (but nothing for the removal of teethes), because my "basic" health insurance doesn't cover them...How does it work in the UK with the NHS?

Thanks a lot

I doubt you would have had much if anything in the way of benefits because of the amount you were earning and your circumstances.

You could check entitledto.com if you want.

;) I really doubt you did as the cut off point for a single person claiming WTC is £13,300.

She may have as only worked for 6months of the year so her annual income for that tax year would be £8,500

For this tax year I don't live anymore in the UK.
Last tax year I worked and lived only between August 2009 and February 2010, but obviously my tax credits were calculated on my earnings for 2008/2009, which were less than 13K £.
Another thing...For 2 months I commuted by train to get to work...120£/month for the monthly ticket. Could I deduct this expense?
I also used, rarely, my personal laptop while I was on-call, to perform some work remotely. Can I claim some "maintenance expenses" for the laptop, since I also used it for work purposes?
    Thank you very much
