Years Travel insurance query

We have a years travel insurance policy which has a maximum 25 days away at any one time.

My husband is going to Canada for one month and the policy will expire three weeks into his holiday.

How would we overcome the 25 day ruling, would we be able to claim either side of the policy - if you understand what I mean.

  • If the policy is limted to 25 days away at a time "during the period of Insurance" and policy is renewed then should be no problem, if however it limits all cover to max 25 days away on any trip then there may be problems. Even if claim is made in the first 25 days of the trip they may try and avoid any claim by saying that trip duration is over their 25 day limit and therefore void.
Would suggest that the best thing is to let this policy lapse during the visit and take out different cover elsewhere that is more generous with their trip limits.
I use Insure and Go Platinum Annual travel, gives free kids under 18, no excess and trip limit of up to 90 days - cost £55 p a per adult. depends on amount of travel you do though.
    Hope this helps a bit!
  • Thankyou for that advice/info, it's much appreciated.
