Londoners are too LAZY to walk rather than catch the tube anyway.
That's a nice big generalisation to sweep over the few million people in London. I'm sure that holds perfectly true for every single one of them.
Bet you'll find the opposite is more likely. Judging from those in my office a large number only get season tickets for the maillines, then walk from Charing Cross, Waterloo, Euston, Kings Cross etc, to our office in Soho - a good 20-30 min walk. Everyone is more than aware of how close the Zone 1 tubes really are and often walk short journeys to avoid the tourist crush.
Almost all of us don't have the luxury of living right next to a tube/train station, so we often have a short walk at the start/end of our day. Mines a 3/4 mile / 10 min walk. Bus is often not an option as they're overflowing with kids on school run.
IME I've found many living out of the city too dependant upon their cars to go everywhere, disregarding walking and public transport completely (granted it not as good as London). Often derided as something for those too poor to afford a car.0 -

its cheaper to walk and besides think of the exercise. depending on where, it can sumtimes be quicker to walk that tube it in rush hr.
what a dumb thing to say. I live in the east but work in the west - over 7 miles. Ive walked it once and never again. Took me nearly 2 hours - tube =20 mins.

The fact the nearly 3million people use the tube a day only highlights that London is over crowded.
In the modern age, about now I think. Many office tasks & meetings can be done remotely.
The company I work for has 15 offices round the UK with only on in the middle of London, say 15 people.
We cope with a mutiple site work force using IT solutions i.e. Citrix, VPN, conference calls, video meetings.
Maybe the constatnt striking should wake people up and think about spreading about the land mass of the UK. Then transport infratrucure will have less hot spots.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. Solar Edge with 14 x 285W JA Solar panels. 55° West from south and 35° pitch.0 -
I support the strikes, I'm afraid0

I support them too.
I work for London Buses - soon to strike too (hopefully). Then it will be total chaos. The tube network will never cope with all the extra passengers. 900 bus routes, 8,500 buses - 6 million passengers DAILY
When the tubes strike we cope with demand abeit it's manic. When we strike the tubes will probably close too with overcrowding. London will come to a stopIf Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0
