Suggestions for hotel deals in Bristol in Sept

Anyone got any suggestions for decent hotels in Bristol? My partner and I are heading over at the end of the month for a couple of nights mid-week and I'd like to stay somewhere central and nice, but not at silly prices. He'd love to stay at the Hotel du Vin, but it's £135 a night even on laterooms! I've had a look on some of the comparison/late deal sites, but they're not much help really, so any local knowledge/advice would be v welcome!

I stayed in The Bristol Hotel with work which was something like £65 or £80 for the night on a corporate rate which must mean it's available elsewhere at the same price or less if you try hard.
I have pretty high standards of what I expect, and I also like to pay very little but I'm sure it was £65 as I remember thinking I'd more than happily pay that again. I had a huge, modern room with nice Temple Spa toiletries and there was a nice bar area downstairs. Very near to all the bars and restaurants along the waterside, I'd happily go back. The Breakfast in bed was great!

My room was just like the one pictured.
Scores pretty well on tripadvisor too. Just thinking now I might see if there's anything for the weekend! (lastminute has it for £85)Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I recently stayed in the Mercure Brigstow (I was on a course and my firm payed for me, so I don't think it was too expensive!).
My partner came with me and we had a lovely meal, a few drinks, and it's walking distance to the shops:p0 -
Have booked The Bristol and hopefully it will be ok, thanks to both of you for the suggestions!0
