Sorry if this has already been asked but...
Has anybody ever bought a refurbished laptop and do you have any problems with it?

My first one was refurbished....remember Fujitsu?!!!
The company i bought from gave a warranty (not really sure these are worth the paper they are written on in most cases) but the laptop was fine.
There are a number of reasons that a laptop can be sold as refurbished. What is the reason the one your thinking of buying being sold as?0 -
I bought my wife a refurbished Sony Vaio from the argos ebay store a few months ago now. No problems so far. The only evidence of it being refurb was a somewhat battered box and few minor scratches on the laptop case itself. Was about £200 cheaper than buying new, happy so far!

Yep - bought a refurb asus x5 from argosclearance on ebay and all good so far. (well it did keep freezing initially but that turned out to be a conflict between avg antivirus which i installed and trend micro antivirus which came installed but i assumed wasn't running because it kept asking if i wanted to start the trial period)0

Got a refurb from Argos reseller on ebay (acer ferrari one)
Box was slightly torn, but the laptop looked brand new. Not had a problem with it.0 -
Bought a refurbed HP from Dixons - no problems and laptop now approaching two years old.
Girlfriend bought one and it lasted about the same but the motherboard failed on that one - fixable but not economic.
Daughter has one - around 9months old - no problems.
I'd say that you're not any more or any less likely to have problems than with a brand new one.....but you save a packet buying it.
Keen photographer with sales in the UK and abroad.
Willing to offer advice on camera equipment and photography if i can!0 -
I've just ordered an Acer refurb for my daughter, and I'm hoping there are no probs!
I have a Dell laptop which I've had for about 4 years from new and I'm on my 3rd hard drive....0 -
For the price of a rock bottom new one I preferred to get a solid business laptop but its a refurb, typing on it now after years of trouble free service apart from a replacement hard drive which was under £40 anyway and massively increased the storage.0

I got a cheap refurbished Medion laptop once. Lasted me 18 months or so, but always overheated. Still, go for something better and you'll be fine. My brother has a laptop from Dell factory and it's just like new.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

Thanks guys, I told my boyfriend what you've all said as ours is pretty much a zombie, so we've just ordered one! Good times :beer:0
