If you are going to sell privately there is limited comeback against you if anything goes wrong. The only part of Sale of Goods legislation is 'as described'. So just include the facts, (engine size, year, mileage etc.) Do not put anything like 'excellent condition, good runner, reliable' etc in the ad. State the facts and let the buyer decide the rest.

The only other thing that can come back and bite you is if it is unroadworthy, since it is an offence to sell it in an unroadworthy condition. (Unless it is scrapped.) Do NOT be tempted to put 'sold as seen' on any receipt as it has no meaning in law and will not protect you.

The surest way to sell in my experience is via Auto Trader, which has a huge website. But there are always people looking for cheap runarounds like yours so it may be worth putting ads in local newsagent/post office windows. It's cheap, just ensure your ad is legible. If you can print it so much the better, the ones in 'old biddy writing' are a waste of time.
