New generation parking

I received a parking ticket from NGP telling me i out stayed my welcome. I was there for 1hour & 15mins when i was only allowed 30mins.

On that particular day, i literally took 10mins to return to my car.
I sat and remained in the car for the whole period because my leg & hip was aching so badley i could not drive away.

(Basically i had cancer in my jaw 2years ago. They removed my jaw bone & replaced it with bone from my hip. From time to time, my leg & hip aches and becomes to painful to walk or drive)
I told them if they take the time to check their cctv, they will clearly see that i returned in 10mins, where i remained in my car.

I had a reply this morning, saying that they cannot waive the charge and i must pay to avoid bayliffs and court hearing.

I was genuine, i could not drive away on that day. They only need to check the CCTV...

What do you think i should do now ? Ignore all future letters ?
Can they send baylifs around and remove my car ? This is what im most worried about.

The way i feel what i been through over last 2 years and being genuine on that day, i would be ready for any court hearing.

Cheers guys

  • Like all the posts on here, they are as impotent as the rest. They cannot send bailiffs after you until they have taken a victim to court (Unlikely) win the case (most unlikely) and you refuse to pay what the judge decrees(Even more unlikely).
As court cases from ppc's(with one looney exception) are rarer than hens teeth the safest idea is to just ignore them. Then ignore them a bit more. Then completely ignore them. Don't contact in any way and they eventually give up.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Just ignore these scammers. Their 'fine' cannot be legally enforced and bailiffs can only be instructed by a court. What you will get is a series of threatening letters from debt collectors who have no legal powers to sieze your assets. File the paperwork and do not hesitate to post on here again if any of the threatening letters cause you concern. You will not have your goods siezed by this parasitic lowlife.
Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!
  • aww thanks very much , their letters are so convincing
  • The letters need to look convincing to con people to giving them money. It is a scam, pure and simple.

Worry not, I think the Supermarket has a problem, not you:

Why not print off the BBC article and complain to that Supermarket Head Office? If you feel so inclined you could even ask for compensation or threaten them with Small Claims (if you do this then get help from a local disability charity).

Don't bother to reply to the PPC, their ticket can be safely ignored as others have said, but you don't need to tell the Supermarket you know that PPC tickets are bogus. This has worried you and so will the debt collector letters, so it's harassment = fact.

You will get a series of debt collector letters (no bailiff will call) but the letters alone would definitely constitute harassing a disabled person. Well worth an escalated DDA complaint!

If your disability falls within the DDA definition of disability (which yours does, cancer is considered a disability from the point of diagnosis) then you are entitled to reasonable adjustments. These adjustments would reasonably include more time to park - and you don't have to have a Blue Badge as the scheme doesn't apply on private land.

Don't let your complaint be met with a response that refers to Blue Badges, it would be hogwash and another DDA breach for the Supermarket to deny you the same rights as other disabled people. Point that out to them.

It's simple, if your disability means you NEED more time then they HAVE to give you more time since it's a perfectly reasonable adjustment for them to make.
