I think someone on this thread mentioned a while back about staff sticking reduced labels over barcodes so items didn't go through at 1p. In our local T they had loads of red nose day Malteasers reduced, really easy to remove the label and once I had hung around for a few minutes to avoid the STAFF who were using the price checker I thought I'd try it out - and they scanned at the original £1.09 - so bang goes that theory!

I proved it recently - by accident :o Saw a Smarties Egg (Kinder sized) but the best before date was covered with the RTC label. Peeled it back and it was in date ok so off I trotted to the SS tills. Scanned the egg but the sticker hadn't stuck back down and ended up scanning at 1p. Maybe I should have asked the SA to cancel the item so I could re-scan it at 20p but something told me she probably wouldn't have cared either!!

I was in my local T this evening perusing the reduced 'dry goods' shelf which I'd last perused only a coupla days ago when I spotted 7 cans of Stagg Barbeque Chili con Carne unpriced . Whoohoo. They had never had any of these in my store. They were a bit bruised and sad looking, and had obviously been rescued from some dank corner of the store-room. Anyway I bunged 'em into my trolley, smugly took them to self checkout, waited til you know who was busy and scanned 'em ...... £1.56 ! Oh the sheer disappointment ! :(
Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
